Beach Blonde in Orange Blossoms

Sharing adventures of moving farther South- the beach on the East Coast to the Fl Gulf Coast- and discovering Sweet Tea and Southern accents are a rare find.

I’m having a New York City BFF trip with my sister, Alisha, coming in from the Sunshine State and seeing some of my favorite girls! My amazing rock star aunt, Maxine, is receiving an award tonight so we decided it was a great time to celebrate her, our cousin, Lisa, and one of my great couple friends, Jenny & David.

Yesterday, I worked remotely and then met Alisha for a thirty block walk down Madison Avenue (hooray!) to window shop some greats. We dropped into the new Kate Spade store (among so many others) and had a reunion photo shoot. It felt like we were hanging out at our very good friend’s house thanks to their fabulous social media director, Suzanne Schloot.

We LOVED Lynette Lewis’ shopping recommendation earlier that morning on Instagram of Michael’s on Madison & 79th where we found those lovely Louboutins for $250! I also discovered my dream china and tried on a $38,000 diamond bracelet by accident thanks to a flirty, elderly Turk.

Then, we ended the night with a Turkish happy hour, mani/pedis, and sushi with our aunt and two of her fun girls who work for her, Anya & Christine. LOVELY!!

Today, I am working remotely and looking forward to a Park Avenue Gala, tonight…

And eating a Kosher everything bagel with olive cream cheese.

NYC w my BFF!

My Goodwill Woes

This is starting to become a regular occurrence.

The first time it happened it was out of innocence. I was out on a cool night, and I didn’t have a jacket/ Pashmina with me. Luckily (much appreciative of the times procrastination plays in my favor), I still had my five bags of clothes that I was donating to Goodwill/ The Real Life Children’s Ranch in my trunk. If it wasn’t for this cool Florida night, I would have missed out on the perfect outfit compliment to my favorite navy blue Boston Proper jumpsuit—my re-discovered Armani Exchange cropped soft denim jacket.

The second time guilty as charged. I remembered an old piece & went searching for it in the Goodwill bags still in my trunk.

Tonight, I was reading fashion blogs and came across Scotch & Soda’s Silky Baseball Jacket with Oriental Embroideries

What?!! That’s my high school Tiger baseball jacket!

Sure enough. I had this exact same jacket (mine had an Oriental embroidered Tiger design—the Tigers was our mascot :) in high school- college that I loved (the baseball-inspired style stole my heart)! My mom found this gem for me at one of the few trendy apparel boutiques, Gllitz in this small NC town.

As my mind is racing to locate it, I remember my decision to finally part ways with this silky (polyester)-reversible(mine was)-Tiger-jacket-now retailing- $200 (exact same fabric blend). I’m in Florida I’m not going to wear this.

I’m imagining myself going to untie the red plastic knots and opening the large white trash bags once again to pull it out. This time the frightening thought runs through my mind. The hand off to Goodwill/ Real Life Children’s Ranch has already been made!

I’m reframing myself—because it’s quite ridiculous—from running into my guest bedroom to see if by some chance in the process of carrying the bags back & forth to my trunk if one of the bags was left behind. Doubtful & past the point of crazy.

The reality & what I tell myself: I have plenty of other clothes in my closet that I can wear & focus on. Someone else can enjoy & wear my insanely cool baseball jacket that combines the opulence of Asia with the vintage sports style of America (Scotch & Soda)!

The true confessions of a fashion philanthropist.

Food & Wine…maybe not the best magazine to read on a 3 hr flight; famished! I can’t wait to try recommended restaurants & recipes! The shout out to Durham, NC for great wine made me feel close to home. #Food&Wine #CaliTravels #NCrepresent

Antique shops lined on both sides of the street.

Leaving one of the shops walking down the sidewalk, I heard a lady’s voice coming from behind exclaiming, “Your tag is out!” Turning around I polietly said thank you to a polished lady in her mid-60s and smiled to myself, not remembering the last time someone told me this remembering the small town gestures of letting-a-girl-know when there’s a ”fashion faux pas.”

It was then I knew this was a place for sweet tea.

We stumbled (well, 2 of our friends) upon a whole town dedicated to antique shopping! It’s a small town a hour from where I live that’s in the middle of the Florida country. I’m not much of an antique collector but I love 1) unique furniture & accent decor pieces and 2) NEGOTIATING!
This was one find.  More pics to come of finds as I post apartment decor!
